Miles for Missions
Miles for Missions is a world outreach ministry of Gateway Fellowship. Its purpose is to reach people groups around the globe with the gospel of Jesus Christ, especially those who have never heard, through the building of schools, churches and funding projects to meet basic humanitarian needs. This was the vision of founder Glen Martin an elder at the church, who had a passion to go into all the world taking this light of hope to those who live in darkness. "Papa” Glen, as he was affectionately known by his church family, lived and breathed missions from the time he was a young boy. He went on many trips over the course of his life but his most memorable trip (and most unconventional) was in 1998 when Glen and his wife Betty rode to Alaska and back on a John Deere tractor to raise awareness for world missions. That's when "Miles for Missions" was born. Click here to read more about the Martins' trip to Alaska.
Glen Martin went home to be with the Lord in June 2007 but his legacy continues through the works and projects of Miles for Missions. In the last decade, Miles for Missions has worked primarily with Fountain of Life Church in Kenya and Bishop Armstrong Cheggeh. One of their projects involved shipping a water drilling rig to Kenya for the purpose of drilling life-sustaining water wells in regions affected by draught. Another that is still in progress is the Bible translation project for the IIchamus tribe, a tribe which does not yet have its own written language. Miles for Missions will continue pursuing its vision to reach around the world as long as the Lord directs and provides.
